teaching philosophy

Every single human is a story-teller at heart, and Brad loves to bring out his students’ inner artists through the magic of theatre. Brad loves to teach kids not only acting technique as well as visual arts, but also how to be silly and express themselves. Growing up a mixed-race nerd, Brad never really felt like he truly fit in anywhere, that was, until he finally learned to just be his own weirdo self! Teaching kids that it is not only okay, but amazing, to be a goofball, to look funny, and to be different — that is a vital life lesson that Brad never gets tired of passing on to his students.

Brad recognizes that feelings of empowerment and self-worth are fostered at an early age, and he strives to lift up and feature each and every one of his kids, especially those who come from underrepresented demographics.

When teaching acting, Brad likes to concentrate on the basic three tools of an actor: body, voice, and imagination, and always focuses on teaching his students to find the heart in their characters and their scene work. He tends to like to throw in silly gags and cool sword fights when he can too, naturally.
