Brad has directed a wide variety of shows, most notably with Taproot Theatre Company, Reboot Theatre Company, Village Theatre KIDSTAGE, Studio East, Second Story Rep, Pork Filled Productions, Twelfth Night Productions, and Burien Little Theater, and he has assistant directed with Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society. Brad most commonly directs for educational theatre programs, but is always eager to work on projects with “big kids” as well! He is particularly passionate about new work and stories that give voices to the under-represented.
Brad likes to foster a rehearsal atmosphere based on collaboration; a safe place to experiment and test bits — an actor that feels heard, supported, and empowered will always give their best in the rehearsal room. Brad puts a heavy emphasis on table work and character analysis, believing that quality time spent on developing three-dimensional characters makes blocking more stream-lined and effective. Meaningful relationships and heart are the name of the game for Brad’s directing philosophy; also silliness… lots of sillness.
PRAISE FOR “DAMN YANKEES” (Reboot theatre COMPANY)
“An enjoyable and very well-performed version of this classic story... as fun as I’d hoped it would be... just spectacular... Brad Lo Walker’s creative team is top notch.”
“A new and interesting perspective... so much fun and life... delightful... super fun to watch. Director Brad Lo Walker [does] well in taking a big show and fitting it to this much smaller stage.”
“Delightful... exceptional baseball player ensemble... comedically well-executed.”
PRAISE FOR “DRACULA” (RENTON CIVIC THEATRE)
“Under Brad Lo Walker’s direction, the production finds a balance between human emotion and eerie suspense. It’s a strong interpretation—faithful yet fresh—a darkly elegant and well-paced retelling that leans into mood and atmosphere over spectacle, with performances that serve both the humanity and horror of the story. It’s intelligent, well-crafted theatre—a perfect tale for this time of year.”
“With this version, we in the audience were treated to the real drama and real horror of the tale of Dracula... heightened by the choice of music and the earnestness of the characters... the talent of this cast is astronomical... another major highlight of the show is the ambience, the mood... the dark and Gothic feel of the original novel is brought to life in an exquisite way.”
